Microbiology Technologist Program

Program Highlights

  • Now accepting applications for a 20-week structured Microbiology Technologist Program under the auspices of the Beaumont School of Medical Laboratory Science NAACLS accredited program. (Includes a 1.5 week holiday break.)

  • Available to internal Beaumont Laboratory employees with one year clinical laboratory work experience or previously interviewed MLS applicants. (External candidates by invitation only.)
  • Applicant must submit completed program application, official university transcript, essential functions, personal statements, faculty/employer recommendations and other documents as requested.

  • Approved applicants will be invited to interview with the Admission Committee and Microbiology Faculty.

  • Tuition: $5,000 (non-refundable) or sign 2-year work agreement tuition waiver.

  • Start Dates: September 2023 (tenative).

  • Program Hours: Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm (weeks 1-12); 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (weeks 13-18).

 

 


Admission Requirements

  1. U.S. baccalaureate of science degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Molecular Pathology.

  2. GPA of 2.8 or higher – both overall and in MLS discipline-specific courses.

  3. Pre-requisite U.S. college course as defined by Admission Committee including:
    a. Required: General Microbiology with lab, Clinical
        Microbiology with lab, Parasitology, Molecular 
        Diagnostics & Body Fluids.
       Contact Program Director for course recommendations.

  4. Strong, self-directed learner (organized, independent, self-study ability & resourceful).

  5. Permanent U.S. resident or authorization to work in the U.S.

  6. Good faculty and employer recommendations.

  7. Previous work experience preferred.

  8. Ability to pay $5,000 tuition (non-refundable) or sign 2-year work agreement tuition waiver.
