Microbiology Technologist Program

Program Highlights

  • Now accepting applications for a 16-week structured Microbiology Technologist Program under the auspices of the Beaumont School of Medical Laboratory Science NAACLS accredited program.

  • Available to Beaumont Laboratory employees, external student applicants and/or previously interviewed MLS applicants.

  • Applicant must submit completed program application, official university transcript, essential functions, personal statements, faculty/employer recommendations and other documents as requested.

  • Applicant must meet the admission requirements listed below.

  • Approved applicants will be invited to interview with the Admission Committee and Microbiology Faculty.

  • Tuition: $3,000 (non-refundable).

  • Start Dates: March 9, 2020 and September 2020 (date TBD).

  • Program Hours: Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm (weeks 1-8); 7:00 am – 2:30 pm (weeks 9-16).

  • Number of Positions: 4 students – twice per year.

Admission Requirements

  1. U.S. baccalaureate of science degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Molecular Pathology.

  2. GPA of 2.5 or higher – both overall and in MLS discipline-specific courses.

  3. Pre-requisite U.S. college course:
    a. Required: General Microbiology, Clinical
        Microbiology with lab, Parasitology, Mycology,
        & Molecular Biology
    b. Preferred: Body Fluids and Clinical Immunology

  4. Strong adult learner characteristics (organized, independent, capable of self-study when indicated).

  5. Permanent U.S. resident or authorization to work in the U.S.

  6. High faculty and employer recommendations.

  7. Previous work experience preferred.
