Specimen Collection Criteria

Collect (preferred specimen): Whole blood in one Lavender-top EDTA tube.

Physician Office/Draw Specimen Preparation

Do not centrifuge whole blood EDTA. Maintain in original collection tube at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F).

Preparation for Courier Transport

Transport: 2.0 mL whole blood or serum, at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F). (Minimum: 0.5 mL)

Rejection Criteria

Specimens not collected or processed as indicated.

In-Lab Processing

Do not centrifuge whole blood EDTA. Maintain in original collection tube at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F).

Transport: 0.7 mL whole blood or serum, refrigerated (2-8°C or 36-46°F). (Minimum: 0.3 mL)

Storage

Specimen Stability for Testing:

Room Temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F): 4 days
Refrigerated (2-8°C or 36-46°F): 4 days
Frozen (-20°C/-4°F or below): Unacceptable
