Returning to Campus-Specific Model for AP Services

As Anatomic Pathology has returned to a campus-specific model, most campuses will now return to preparing their own referrals (internal consults of external glass slides from other institutions) effective Wednesday, 5/28/2025.

Benefits:

  • Clinicians will send the cases to the location where the patient will be seen (as per prior to consolidation) as the clinicians and local pathologists already work closely together.

Structure:

  • The Point of Contact at each site will be the AP Coordinators/Supervisors.
  • Please instruct outside institutions to send slides directly to the pertinent campus (see accompanying sheet).
  • Any materials received by Royal Oak intended for another site will be accessioned at Royal Oak and then sent to the appropriate campus via courier if the intended location is obvious. If it is not, Royal Oak will retain it.
  • Taylor, Trenton, and Wayne cases will be processed at the Wayne Campus.
  • Royal Oak and Grosse Point will be processed at Royal Oak.
  • Dearborn, Troy, and Farmington Hills will process their own cases.

AP Coordinators/Supervisors:
