Adrenarche refers to the first recognizable hormonal changes of puberty and elevated plasma levels of adrenal androgens, (DHEA sulfate, DHEA and androstenedione) occur before clinical evidence of this change.  Adrenarche normally occurs before gonadarche (elevation of testosterone in males and estrogen in females).  This panel may be useful when the clinician suspects premature adrenarche.
