Clinical Utility

JC Polyoma Virus DNA, Quantitative, Real-Time PCR, CSF – JC Polyoma Virus is the cause of Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), a severe demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. PML is a particular concern for individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus. Quantification of JC virus DNA is based upon the real-time PCR amplification and detection of JCV genomic DNA. Reportable range is 50 to 50,000,000 IU/mL (1.70 to 7.70 Log IU/mL).
